Summary0002233: High and continuous Apache server CPU use
Description

Running phpMyAdmin, viewing a table or changing the theme, the CPU usage on Apache HTTP server goes up to 25-30% and stays that way until the server is restarted. Each time another action is taken in phpMyAdmin, the CPU load is increased 25-30% until the CPU is maxed out.

Server: Apache/2.4.54 (Win64) PHP/8.3.1 on Windows 11 (fully updated). MySQL Community Server 8.0.31. Apache/PHP and MySQL all running on a single development machine.

PHP 8.2.14 with X-Debug 3.3.1 behaves as expected (very little CPU use and released immediately)
PHP 8.3.1 without X-Debug behaves as expected
PHP 8.2.14 with X-Debug 3.2.2 behaves as expected

Steps To Reproduce

Running PHP 8.3.1 with X-Debug 3.3.1 with Apache 2.4 on Windows 11,

  • open phpMyAdmin (current version 5.2.1) in any browser (current versions of Firefox and Chrome tested).
  • Login sometimes will be enough to trigger the problem. Otherwise, view a table or change the theme (both reliably trigger the problem).
  • CPU usage by Apache HTTP server will increase to 25-30% (on my machine) and stay there until the server task is shut down.
