Description

When used with PHP 8.4.0RC1, Xdebug reports the following:
Xdebug requires Zend Engine API version 420230831.
The Zend Engine API version 420240924 which is installed, is newer.
Contact Derick Rethans at https://xdebug.org/docs/faq#api for a later version of Xdebug.

In https://xdebug.org/announcements/2024-05-31 it says that Xdebug 3.4.0alpha1 is a preliminary release with PHP 8.4 support, but it is not possible to test it as for now.

Steps To Reproduce

In php.ini set
zend_extension = php_xdebug-3.4.0alpha1-8.3-vs16-nts-x86_64.dll

and try to debug e.g. with VSCODE
